The beryl Coronet summary.
Trembling with chillness, Holmes and Watson were sitting near the chimney. In this cold and snowy day, a man appears to be irritated and coming hurriedly towards them. The man entered seeking help from Holmes.
The man was a banker, mostly a loan-keeper. Alexander Holder was his name.
Once, a great prince or some high official came to Mr.Holder asking a loan, keeping a beryl coronet in the hands of Holder for safety until the money was returned. The beryl coronet, being so expensive was kept safely in a locker. Holder told his daughter and son, Mary and Arther respectively about the coronet. Holder being a light sleeper hears a sound and checks if the coronet was safe. But there he saw Arther holding the coronet, twisted and a few beryls gone. Suspecting Arther, he was sent to jail. However, Arther is innocent. So the truth behind it, was in the hands of Holmes. Holmes started the investigations.
It happens to be that, his daughter Mary was talking to her love,George during the incident. Finding trails of the women, he found that she was talking a long time. Then knowing more about George, Holmes finds that he was a rogue. He then started suspecting George. Then, with a lot of trails and clues found, Holmes decides that George was guilty. He went to Arther and started to say the whole incident behind. How? He didn’t even find still. Then how? Arther started to say the whole story to Holmes.
Holmes then visited Holder and started to depict the whole incident.
It turns out it was George the whole time. Mary had been sharing the issue with him that he got anxiety to steal the coronet and sell it for a huge amount of money. Arther had caught George but wasn’t strong enough that the coronet got twisted and broken. He tried to call his dad, when this coincidence happened. Holmes had went to the customers address and paid them and brought back the coronet. Holder felt sorry for Arther. He apologized and now, the precious gem is safe and sound.
